Following in the footsteps of Tribal Tech and Weather Report, Toronto's own Protocol strives to blur the lines between jazz and rock. Dense harmonies, improvised solos, distorted guitars, and hard-hitting grooves all find their niche in every Protocol set.

The band consists of four award-winning musicians who have performed with the likes of Mike Stern, Chris Potter, and Randy Brecker, representing some of the best young talent that Toronto has to offer. Protocol's repertoire consists of original compositions by the band and other local musicians, as well as a number of covers that pay tribute to the band's biggest inspirations, including Tribal Tech, Mike Stern, Hiromi, Alan Holdsworth, The Code, and others.

Since its formation in 2006, Protocol has been active in the clubs circuit, building its fanbase and garnering a reputation for putting on shows so electric that they will literally melt people's faces off.(citation needed) With the recent release of their first-studio recorded material, and big stage performances such as the Aurora Jazz Festival this past summer, Protocol is heading full-throttle into 2010.
